Wines from the Ontañon winery
Ontañon Winery, founded more than 30 years ago under a family artisan environment, which still lives on today, has a long experience in viticulture Riojana. Raquel, Leticia, Rubén and María Pérez Cuevas are part of the fifth generation of the family Pérez Cuevas to continue the tradition of growing grapes in the southern part of the Rioja. The origins begin with the passion of a family for its land and its wine-growing tradition of its vineyards located on the high slopes of the Sierra de Yerga just south of the Ebro River in Rioja Baja, in the municipality of Quel, where the family had deep roots and where it is believed that some of the highest quality Rioja wines are produced.
"Ontañon winery transmits, harvest after harvest, the enthusiasm for the art of good work, with the dedication that a new living being demands after each vintage and deserves to be an adult".
Ontañón winery is not just a winery, but a whole philosophy. These are years of work and enthusiasm, both in the vineyards, which are our pillars, and in the conjunction of wine and art.
Our 250 hectares of vineyards are located high up in the mountains of Sierra Yerga, just outside the town of Quel, which has been one of the most important winemaking centers in Rioja for centuries. In the Ontañón vineyards, the life of each vine is taken care of as parents do with their children. And the bunches are harvested only when the grapes have reached their optimum maturity.
We are very proud of the maintenance of these vineyards in the most sustainable way possible, since it is our land that supports our family tradition in wine.
