Maurodos
Wines from the Maurodos winery
In 1995 Bodegas Maurodos is launched, a new project to produce DO Toro wines led by the same head of Bodegas Mauro, Mariano García. The facilities are located in the town of Pedrosa del Rey, in the province of Valladolid. It has 65 ha of vineyard spread over different farms between the municipalities of Villaester and San Román de Hornija, where the main variety is Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo), followed by Garnacha Tinta. Even taking into account the new plantations, the average age of the vineyard is 35 years. The vineyard is established on loamy, stony or sandy soils, with a clayey subsoil that allows a water supply during the driest periods of an extreme continental climate.
In Maurodos the vinification of each plot is carried out separately, in this way it is possible to respect the characteristics of each payment; French and American oak barrels are used for aging periods of between one and two years.
"San Román" is one of the two brands of Bodegas Maurodos. Maurodos “San Román” red wines are red wines that express all the character of the terroir, they are deep and mineral, powerful and elegant, dense and with pleasant tannins, having been in the barrel for a period of two years. They will continue to evolve and grow in the bottle for years to come.
