Malvar is a Spanish variety of white grapes.

It is found mostly in the Designation of Origin (DO) Vinos de Madrid.

The bunch is elongated and the grapes are not very tight. The Malvar grape produces slightly "rustic" wines with a medium body that tend to exhibit more aromas and flavors than airén.

It produces aromatic young white wines, of greenish color that go to steely tones with time. It is used in the production of over-mother wines. It is suitable for mixing with the tinto fino and grenache varieties, thus giving soft and velvety reds. It has the potential for barrel aging and fermentation and for the production of liqueur wines in the style of Bordeaux Sauternes. In the south of Madrid can be mixed with the macabeo to produce a wine in the style of the French of Château d'Yquen.
