The Perelada winery
The elaboration of wine in the Perelada Castle is documented as early as the Middle Ages, as evidenced by several documents and parchments of the period that are kept in the library. When Miguel Mateu bought this monumental complex in 1923, one of its main objectives was the revitalization of this winemaking tradition, a tradition that today is more alive than ever and that has incorporated the most modern technology to produce wines that make the most of the nuances of the soils and vineyards of the Empordà.
Denomination of origin of Blanc Pescador
The production area of the DO Empordà, located in the northeastern corner of Catalonia, includes a total of 48 municipalities distributed in two counties: 35 municipalities of Alt Empordà and 20 municipalities of Baix Empordà.
The Alt Empordà production area is located in the northeastern corner of Catalonia (from the city of Figueres northwards to the border with France) sheltered in the foothills of the Rodes and Alberas mountain ranges, in an arc that goes from the Cape of Creus to the so-called Garrotxa d'Empordà (Albanyà).
It limits, therefore, with the Pyrenees to the north, the Mediterranean to the east and the plain itself to the south.
The municipalities covered by the DO in Alt Empordà are: Agullana, Avinyonet de Puigventós, Biure, Boadella i les Escaules, Cabanes, Cadaqués, Cantallops, Capmany, Cistella, Colera, Darnius, Espolla, Figueres, Garriguella, La Jonquera, Llançà, Llers, Masarac, Mollet de Peralada, Palau-saverdera, Pau, Pedret i Marzà, Peralada, Pont de Molins, Portbou, Port de la Selva, Rabós, Roses, Sant Climent Sescebes, Selva de Mar, Terrades, Vilafant, Vilajuïga, Vilamaniscle and Vilanant.
