V.T. Ribera del Gallego Wines- Cinco Villas

Ribera del Gallego-Cinco Villas is a protected geographical indication, used to designate wines originating in the Spanish wine-growing areas of the bank of Gallego and Cinco Villas.
This GI was regulated in 2003 and supports categories of white wines with minimum natural alcoholic strength of 11 º, 11.5 º pink and red with 12.
Ribera del Gallego-Cinco Villas occupies a wide strip of land along the course of the Gallego River almost to the city of Zaragoza. The wine is very small surface extending between two provinces: Huesca and Zaragoza.
In all villages the tradition of producing artisan wines for self consumption remains, has since 2003 adopted a regulation establishing an Interprofessional Committee for the tasks of monitoring and certification.
The soils are generally rocky (the famous gravel) and to provide effective drainage vineyard.
The grape varieties are grown for the production of its wines are Grenache, Tempranillo, Mazuela, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. In white variety used is the Maccabee.
This area is located in a place of great beauty and great tourist attraction in the nearby Pyrenees Pre Aragonés.
