The Orborne Winery
The history of Osborne dates back to the end of the 18th century, when a young English merchant named Thomas Osborne Mann arrived in Cadiz to market the wines of the area. He soon began doing business in Puerto de Santa María and it was in this town that he founded his own winery which, more than 200 years later, would become the great business group it is today, of international fame and recognition.
Designation of Origin of Viña Monty Blanco
It belongs to the DO Rioja, a denomination that dates back to the end of the 19th century, but which was not officially formed until 1925.
The area that hosts this denomination of origin covers the autonomous communities of Rioja and the Basque Country.
The grapes produced in this denomination are: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, Graciano and Maturana.
The wines of this denomination are characterized by being fresh, aromatic wines, with an excellent vessel and, above all, they are very balanced wines.
Rioja wines are easy to drink wines.
Grape variety used in Viña Monty Blanco
Variety: 90% Viura, 10% White Tempranillo
The two varieties are harvested and processed separately.
The Viura variety, the reigning white varietal in Rioja, comes from a vineyard located in the Sotés area of ??Rioja Alta, at an altitude of more than 650 metres, and with vines over 85 years old on old and rough land. The small clusters are concentrated and rich in aromas, have an exquisite acidity and a moderate alcohol level that provides freshness. The Tempranillo Blanco variety, originally from Rioja and a mutation of the red variety, comes from a small young vineyard located in Rioja Alta, which gives the coupage floral aromas and liveliness.
