The Sommos Winery
The winery is committed to producing easy-drinking wines with a classic Somontano blend. This winery grows its own grapes, which are then used to make its wines.
Its vineyards are located in the Adahuesca area, at the foot of the Guara mountain range. The Ballabriga family has cultivated its vineyards for generations.
This current winery was founded in 2000 by José Miguel Ballabriga to create high-quality wines.
This family winery's goal is to recover native Somontano varieties with flavors from the past. One of its native grape varieties is Parraleta, and this winery is making an effort to revive this grape, which is largely extinct today but contributes excellent quality to its wines. They are also recovering the Alcañon grape to produce white wines. The winery building is modern and functional, partially underground to facilitate barrel aging. It is located in the center of the Batrallo estate, surrounded by its vineyards.
They have stainless steel tanks and French and American oak barrels. The careful, almost individual selection of these barrels and their toasting is one of our main tasks to achieve unique wines.
