Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin
Designation on the banks of the Duero River with an area of ??115 km in length and 35 km in width.
Located in the regions of Castilla y León, it extends through the provinces of Soria, Burgos, Segovia and Valladolid.
This designation was established in 1982, and mainly red and rosé wines are produced.
To be eligible for this designation, the wine must have at least 75% Tempranillo grapes in its production, and be grown in the areas of the designation. The following grapes are also produced: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Merlot, and to a lesser extent, Garnacha and Albillo grapes.
