Wine characteristics

Elaboration of Avancia Cuvee De O Mencia wine

Harvested by hand and stored in small baskets. Primary fermentation takes place in small (two to five tons) open stainless steel fermenters with native yeasts. After a slow and meticulous processing in a vertical press, malolactic fermentation (MLF) is carried out in used French oak barrels from Bordeaux and Burgundy.

Bodegas Avancia is located on the slate slopes of Valdeorras, rising above the Sil river. Receiving the name of the mining activity that the Romans exercised in the area (Val-de-Oras could be translated from Latin as Valle del Oro), Valdeorras has an exceptional terroiridóne for the cultivation of two of the most important autochthonous Spanish varieties - Godello and Mencía.

Designation of Origin of Avancia Cuvee De O Mencia 

Valdeorras is a denomination of origin whose production area is located in the North-Eastern part of the province of Orense. It is made up of 8 municipalities. Watered by the Sil river, it obtained the qualification of designation of origin in 1945.

Made 100% with the mencia grape variety
Vineyards located in Bancales and Ladeira. Located on the north bank of the Sil river. Southeast orientation.
Bancales vineyard age: 1950; Ladeira: 1980
Soils of mainly slate composition interspersed with small amounts of quartz.
