Special characteristics of the wine:
Araia Garnacha winemaking process
In the winery, the grapes are destemmed and passed through an optical sorting table, without crushing. Each plot is vinified separately in small steel tanks and fermented with wild yeasts for 20 to 24 days.
What type of wine is Araia Garnacha
A red wine aged for 14 months in 500- and 600-liter, three-year-old French barrels.
The Sommos Garnacha Winery
Sommos Garnacha Winery has extensive and well-established experience in the winemaking sector.
We are located in Murero, a small town of 76 inhabitants, on the banks of the Jiloca River, 10 km from Daroca. Located in the area called "Finca La Moratilla," it is a French "Chateau" concept, where our treasure is the vineyards.
We currently own approximately 100 hectares of vineyards, a large part of which is Garnacha Viñas Viejas.
The winery combines simplicity, functionality, and an austere style, avoiding extravagant designs and focusing all our attention on what truly matters in a winery: the wine and its vines.
Araia Garnacha Designation of Origin
The Calatayud D.O.P. is located in the westernmost part of the province of Zaragoza, 87 kilometers from Zaragoza and just one hour from Madrid by high-speed train.
The geographical area of ??the Calatayud D.O.P. is made up of the following municipalities:
The Calatayud D.O.P. Calatayud is located within the Calatayud Community Region, part of the province of Zaragoza and bordering the provinces of Soria, Guadalajara, and Teruel.
From a geomorphological perspective, the Calatayud Basin is a miniature reproduction of the Ebro River Basin, with three distinct units: the outer mountain ranges, the inner basin, and the foothills.
It is an area of ??complex topography, located in the foothills of the Moncayo River and characterized by a complex hydrographic network formed by various tributaries of the Ebro River, such as the Jalón, Jiloca, and other smaller ones. The vineyards descend the slopes of the mountains, with altitudes ranging between 550 and 1,040 meters.
The terrain is undulating, with most of the vineyards located on stony, loose soils that are very poor in nutrients and have a high proportion of limestone.
They are well permeable and healthy. Grape varieties used in Araia Garnacha
